Why ENERGY STAR?
“All of the ENERGY STAR® certified products from Broan-NuTone are certified by the Home Ventilating Institute (HVI). The HVI label is a homeowner’s assurance that the certified airflow and sound ratings result from testing by an independent laboratory,” says Patrick Nielsen, marketing manager, ventilation fans, Broan-NuTone. “The ENERGY STAR® program uses HVI certification as its third-party validation when evaluating whether or not a product receives ENERGY STAR® certified status. Put simply: the HVI certification and ENERGY STAR® certified distinctions help guide homeowners to purchase the most energy-efficient products on the market.”
What does ENERGY STAR Mean®?
According to ENERGY STAR® officials, earning the ENERGY STAR® certification means products meet the strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Energy (DOE). ENERGY STAR® certified ventilation fans that include lights use 70 percent less energy on average than standard models; these fans provide better efficiency and comfort with less noise and use high-performance motors that work better and last longer than motors used in conventional models. In addition, they feature high-performance motors and improved blade design, providing better performance and longer life.
“Because Broan-NuTone is the leading U.S. manufacturer of residential ventilation for ENERGY STAR® certified products, we have played a key role in helping the industry set the standard for HVI over the years,” says Nielsen. “When a homeowner puts one of our ENERGY STAR® certified products into their home, they can rest assured that our reputation and promise of excellence and quality of service back it.”

The Sustained Excellence Award is the highest honor the ENERGY STAR® program bestows. We have committed long-term to fighting climate change and protecting public health through energy efficiency. We’re amongst the nation’s leaders in driving value for the environment, the economy, and the American people. “As we accelerate historic efforts to address climate change, public-private partnerships will be essential to realizing the scale of our ambition,” said EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan. “I applaud this year’s ENERGY STAR® award winners for working with EPA to deliver a clean energy future that saves American consumers and businesses money and creates jobs.”
