Leadership
Leadership is measured in all kinds of ways. We define it with innovation, from spot ventilation products to whole-house indoor air quality systems. The greatest compliment we receive is seeing our product ideas become the industry standards.

The 1990s

In 1992, Broan designed one of the U.S. range hood industry’s first fully-automated hood lines. Dedication of the unprecedented $15 million hood automation process was celebrated by all employees as well as many Wisconsin dignitaries in attendance at the Open House.

In 1995, Broan expanded its product offering into the heat recovery ventilator (HRV) market and Whirlpool private label business through the acquisitions of Venmar Ventilation Inc. and Rangaire, LP.

In 1995, Broan acquired Best, an established high-end Italian line of range hoods. The Best acquisition was Broan’s first purchase of a European company and brand and moved Broan’s range hood business into a whole new segment of the luxury range hood market.

Broan was a founding member of National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) National Council of the Housing Industry and is a member of the “50-Year Exhibitors” group of NAHB along with only a handful of other U.S. manufacturers.

Broan acquired its competitor, NuTone, in 1998 and became Broan-NuTone LLC.

From November 1998 through March 1999, Broan was proud to have helped co-sponsor the “Unlimited by Design” exhibit at the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum in New York. This first-ever exhibition was designed by students from the Rhode Island School of Design and featured state-of-the-art kitchen design that incorporated cutting edge universal design principles – including kitchen ventilation – into everyday living.
